Our
Instructional Skills Training
is intended primarily for teaching assistants, institutional
trainers, tutors and other adult educators interested in enhancing
the effectiveness of their teaching.
Training
can be tailored to the specific needs of individuals and small
groups. However, a typical training program extends over 2-3
days and comprises most or all of the following components:
- Planning
successful, effective lessons
- Developing
useful learning objectives
- Considering
various learning styles
and individual differences
- Creating
a positive, productive learning
environment
- Using
appropriate teaching techniques
and activities for interactive, participatory learning
- Using
questions and feedback
as teaching tools
- Selecting
effective instructional aids
and benefiting from the use of educational
technologies
- Developing
effective evaluation techniques
and reporting mechanisms
In
a typical program, each participant designs and teaches 2-3
short lessons, and receives constructive feedback from other
participants and the facilitator. Effective ways of addressing
various teaching challenges are discussed.
These
programs are designed and facilitated by dedicated professional
educators with several years of experience as instructor trainers
in North America and Europe.
