Call
for Abstracts
MARC
2003 is only accepting abstracts via electronic submission.
All abstracts submitted and received by January
31, 2003, 12:00 p.m.
(noon) CST will be automatically accepted as an oral/poster
presentation. Abstracts received between February 1 and February
18 will be accepted only for poster display on a provisional
basis. Notification of session assignment and acceptance status
of late submissions will be sent by e-mail to your MARC Coordinator
by February 28, 2003.
Required
Format
Abstracts
must include Title, Author, Affiliation, abstract body and
any figures and tables. Abstracts must fit on one 8 ½
x 11” sheet of paper with ½” margins on
all sides. Abstracts should be submitted in no smaller than
10pt type font and must be in English.
Title:
Should reflect the content of the material. Use BOLD,
ALL CAPITAL LETTERS.
Authors:
Presenting author listed first and underlined, All authors
listed by initials, full last names and degree(s).
Affiliation:
Include name of institution, city/state
Categories
Abstracts may be submitted in one of the following categories:
- Clinical
Science
- Basic
Science
- Case
Reports
CLINICAL
AND BASIC SCIENCE ABSTRACT SUBMISSIONS
All
clinical and basic science abstract submissions should contain
the following sections as they apply (begin each section as
a new paragraph with section headings in BOLD,
do not indent, e.g. Introduction: The purpose
of …)
Introduction:
Purpose of work clearly identified.
Methods:
Scientific approach and material used identified. If applicable,
institutional approval or animal committee’s approval
should be noted. Where applicable, statistical methods must
be clearly described in detail.
Results:
Describe important finding (s). A table or graph may be
used, but it must fit within the margins.
Discussion:
Discuss major findings and their relevance to the question(s)
asked by the study.
References:
No more than three.
CASE
REPORT ABSTRACT SUBMISSIONS
In
addition to the Title, Authors, and Affiliation, as above,
case reports abstracts should include an introduction, the
presentation of the case, a brief discussion and no more than
three references.
PRESENTATION
METHODS
There
will be 20 minutes of poster viewing at the beginning of each
session. A computer projector will be used for presentations.
Each basic science poster presenter will be allowed 5-6 minutes
to present (6 slides maximum). Each clinical science case
report presenter will be allowed 3-4 minutes to present (4
slides maximum). Presentations will be followed by questions
or discussion by the audience and moderators. Slide
projectors will not be available. Presenters
will e-mail their Windows Power Point presentations to
whoffman@uic.edu by March 7, 2003.
It must be indicated in the subject field the presenter and
the session to which they have been assigned.
Submission
All
submissions are processed electronically. At the
time of submitting a proposal, you will be asked to choose
a username and password, which will later enable you to :
- submit
another proposal using the same profile (author name, contact
information),

make changes to your submission(s),
-
update your contact information.
The
submission deadline has passed. Further submissions, or changes
to earlier submissions, are no longer accepted. |
